Peat substitute with peat look
There are several ways to substitute the good water storage capabilities of peat with more sustainable auxiliaries. One goal, however, is of course to leave the peat-reduced or peat-free soil as familiar as possible. This applies to the properties as a substrate for the roots of the plants as well as to the feel and, of course, the appearance.
Specially prepared wood fibers can do this particularly well. And with the right process control, wood fibers absorb pigments excellently. For example, even minimal amounts of dark iron oxide pigments can turn much lighter wood fibers back into an unmistakable, earthy brown.
