The construction industry differs from other industries by a number of characteristics.

Orders in the construction industry are often project-based and require the close cooperation of very differently trained workers, from architects to engineers to various skilled workers in individual trades on the construction site. Not all processes can be automated, which often makes the most diverse construction projects a cost-intensive investment.

In recent years, the construction industry has been experiencing increasing demands for sustainability and energy efficiency in terms of materials, technologies and construction methods, in addition to the already high, normatively regulated safety standards. This leads to a visibly accelerated change that highlights the relatively high development potential of this industry.
